Micro Automation in Excel

Jenny Alexander will provide a brief demonstration of how the University of Texas at Austin’s Records and Information Management Services team uses formulas within Excel workbooks to simplify how RIM customers complete required forms. This presentation will cover forms used for disposition approval, departmental records inventory, and records cleanup projects, with example forms provided for attendees who would like to implement similar forms in their own organizations.

Jenny Alexander has served as the Director of Records and Information Management Services at The University of Texas at Austin since September 2023. As the Director of RIMS, Jenny is privileged to supervise a small but talented team of individuals who work in the background to keep information organized, available, and legally compliant throughout the University. Prior to her transition to public higher education, Jenny spent three years as the Records Management Officer for the Texas Department of State Health Services and eight years as the Records Management Officer for the Texas Health and Human Services System. Even prior to her formal records management roles, Jenny has had a passion for both public service and process improvement, using her roles at the city, county, and state levels to work towards smoother processes and cleaner information. Jenny holds a Master’s degree in Information Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor’s degree from Yale University, and is a Certified Records Manager.
